JUST A THOUGHT - ON OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO DO MORE TO PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT AND US.. PART. 1

It might really be the case that, sometimes, the best approach to take in trying to improve something, is to begin with the 'negative hypothesis.'

So, if your objective is to make, let us say, men, more considerate towards women and treat them as their equal, if not their betters.

Then, try beginning with the hypothesis that 'most men are misogynists, even though many might not be aware of their misogynistic nature.'

Similarly, if you want to encourage ordinary people to take more care of their local environment.

Then consider working with the hypothesis that, most people are really dirty and do not give a damn about keeping their environment clean and tidy.

When we see someone tossing  plastic bags, a cigarette butts,  empty lager cans or soft drinks bottles onto the street, or over the edge of the road.

We might, however briefly, accommodate the thought the 'I bet he/she would not do that to their own home.'

Well, yes, chances are that they would, which is why they do not care about doing it on the street.

For those kinds of people, who might well be in the majority, in consumerist and throw away societies.

The local environment, like their home, might be considered as just another big rubbish bin to dump their rubbish into.

They have little care about the health of the environment, at least, not unless it is quite obvious to them that its neglect is adversely impacting on their home and their health.

These people are not blessed with joined up or rational and logical thinking.

They are not concerned about how what happens or does not happen today could or is likely to impact on what happens or does not happen tomorrow.

To be continued!
