JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE WAR IN SYRIA: IT IS TIME FOR THE REBELS TO CONCEDE AND END THE MISERY PART 1.

'It has been said that rulers do not give up power willingly; it has to be taken from them.

As we have seen from recent examples, such as in Ukraine, Zimbabwe, and Gambia. But what of people who are fighting to achieve power, such as the rebels fighting in Syria?

Will they willingly give up their military struggle for power, to spare the Syrian people further destruction, or do they have to be defeated?'

It is now the the beginning of the 7th year since the poor and unfortunate people of Syria have been subjected to the catastrophe of a terribly destructive war.

Since the beginning of the war which started in the early months of 2011, probably more that 300-400,000 Syrians have been killed.

Many more thousands injured, and millions have been displaced, internally and externally.

And large  parts of the country being utterly destroyed. The wars have catapulted Syrians to many far flung countries all over the world.

With some being welcomed and others being subjected to hostility, especially in some Eastern European countries.

Inside of Syria, brothers have been turned against brothers, sisters against sisters, and so on and so forth.

Where there was once a people living peacefully with their neighbours, and sharing their hospitality and endeavouring to make a living.

They have, over the past 7 years, become separated by conflict, and, as the war progressed, politics and ethnic and religion fuelled hatred towards their fellow compatriots.

Love, hospitality and compassion have, probably as a necessary cost of conflict, being replaced with hostility, hatred and murderous intent and acts.

Syria and her people have had their conflict being taken over by outside powers and forces, including 'ISIL, and being turned into an international free-for-all.

With jihadists arriving from all over the predominantly Muslim world to increase the blood letting, killing and the destruction.

The Syrian people have not gained anything of value from this catastrophic war.

The many thousands of lives which have been brutally extinguished, the many more which have been cruelly maimed.

And the millions who have had to leave their homes and seek refuge in other areas of the country and abroad, and the massive destruction of livelihoods and property, have all been in vain.

To be continued!
