A person is a reflection of their culture, of what they believe and how they live their lives. A bridge between the past and the future, between time and space and needs to try to keep them in harmony, less they become unbalanced. Not to be aware of the past and give it due consideration in the building of the future can distort the future. Neither is it wise to sacrifice your future because you choose to live in or as if you are in the past. One World One Human Race One Destiny (OWOHROD)

JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE ASHLEY CARE CENTRE'S CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS CARING FOR THE VULNERABLE ELDERLY. THE END...!
As such the resident might not have the privilege or freedom to have their meals saved for them, if they are not feeling hungry or want to eat at the set mealtimes.
Similarly, keeping a person safe can prejudice their freedom of movement and to use equipment which they might or would like to use.
Achieving and maintaining the right balance between enabling the resident to exercise appropriate freedom and facilitating their safety and welfare can be a very fraught one.
Since the tendency of their relatives and the authorities, to prioritise their safety, although oftentimes understandable, might not be realistic.
But it is a risk adverse principle and expectation which is oftentimes applied.
Not surprisingly, the aim, the objective of the best of the residential and nursing homes, for the vulnerable older people.
For whom they have the responsibility of care, is to provide for them, the 'best home away from home.'
To, as much as possible provide a personalised home environment and care service, which is able to replicate the best of what they had when they were in their 'own homes.'
But with the added support which has led to that option being no longer viable.
Which is what I see Ashley Care Centre doing, and excelling at doing.
The decor, regime, ethos and staff at Ashley Care Centre, are all about enabling their residents to live with and maintaining as much of their freedom, dignity and independence.
As is consistent with providing them with a reasonable standard of personal safety.
As they contemplate, negotiate and try to whatever pleasure and sense of fulfilment they can, from the rest of their limited time on planet Earth.
Well done, Ashley Care Centre! Your success has meant that the families of your residents can feel more reassured about the care of their relatives in your charge.
And be less emotionally and psychologically burdened by having to resort to using your excellent service.
