JUST A THOUGHT ON THE IMPLICATION OF ITALY'S ELECTIONS - THE QUEST FOR PRIMA L'ITALIA! PART 1.

Probably one of the most perennial and common quest of all political parties, is their desire to make or transform society into a manifestation of their image.

Just as how 'God' is reputed to have made humans into his own image, so is it the aspiration of the political parties and movements to transform society.

And so it is for the political party which wants to transform society into its own image of what society should be like.

Which takes me to the outcome of Italy's recent national elections, which has seen the 'purist' and 'anti-establishment' party, M5S, the Five Star Movement, polling well, with over 30 per cent of the votes.

An achievement which should place the party or movement, in a better position than it had been under the previous electoral system.

Which has now been changed to include both first past the post and proportional representational elements.

The problem or challenge for the Five Star Movement, is that, even if it ends up being the 'movement' with the biggest proportion of the popular votes.

It will not be enough to enable it to form the next government of Italy, on its own.

And yet, some of the obstacles which M5S faces, are of its own making, however desirable are its principles.

Such as it declaring itself to be, it seems, not only 'not a political party', but 'a movement.'

And a 'movement' which is against 'the establishment.' As I said, yes, it is desirable that M5S, or Five Star Movement, is against the political status quo.

Which have brought about and maintained the corrupt and ineffective and inefficient governmental system, which has been burdening the Italians for decades.

And which Five Star wants to change or replace.
