JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON RUSSIA'S SEARCH FOR HER PLACE IN A WARY WORLD. PART 4

Quite simply, the West sees Russia, and, indeed, the Russian Federation, as 'undemocratic', and, at best, 'alien' to what it considers to be 'Western liberal democracy.'

Russia and the Russian Federation, as far as the West is concerned, is not refined, tolerant and enlightened enough for what the West perceives itself to be.

The current ruling Western elites do not want Russia and the Russian Federation as friends or partners.

Whether, it would seem, in the area of trade and commerce, or in areas of conflict.

As we can see from the current trade war between the RF and the Western Alliance, and as we can see in arena of warfare, in Syria, specifically, and the Middle East, in general.

As well as the conflict in eastern parts of the Ukraine. Probably I should have said 'equal partner.'

As the Western alliance, when it suits it, will doubtlessly cooperate with the Russian Federation, however reluctantly.

As it is doing regarding the supply of Russian gas to parts of Europe.

And, in Syria, where it is in the interest of both sides to have at least a measure of corporation, to avoid or reduce the risk of unintended conflict between them.

Outside of such considerations, the Western Alliance, with its Nato and European Union interests and legitimacy to preserve.  Is only interested in having a carefully planned and restricted partnership with the Russian Federation.

There is a lot, including economic and strategic military and political investment at stake, which requires the 'enemisation' of Russia and the Russian Federation  to continue.

To be continued!
