MONACO GRAND PRIX QUALIFYING - THE MIXED FORTUNES OF DRIVING ON THE EDGE!

A very Big Congratulation Red Bull and Daniel Ricciardo, for having driven on the edge of fate to take Pole position during the Qualifying stage of the Monaco Grand Prix!

Congratulations also to Sebastian Vettel and Team Ferrari, for having placed their car on P.2.

And to Lewis Hamilton and Team Mercedes, for having placed Car 44 on P.3, for Sunday's Grand Prix, around the exceedingly demanding Monaco circuit.

Nobody can doubt the unique challenges which the do or die, and relentlessly precipitous Monaco circuit mercilessly throws at each of the drivers, irrespective of their level of experience.

Regardless of whether they are having a good day or not. This venomous snake of a circuit demands that all who drives on it should be fearless, should be hyper alert, have nerves of steel and be blessed with faultless concentration.

It requires each driver who dares to drive along its slithery back to take his own life and welfare into their hands and drive as fast and fearlessly as they can, without dropping and smashing it.

And so it was, that while Daniel Ricciardo was fortunate and blessed enough to drive the fastest and  and still hold on to the advantage he accumulated and convert it into Pole.

That was not to be the case with the unfortunate Max Verstappen, who, had he been able survive Practice 3.

And not having had his car suffered a catastrophic crash which could not be rectified in time for the Qualifying Session, might well have bettered his team mate's remarkable Pole Lap.

But all of that is now in the past, and, although the Monaco circuit is nothing, if not consistent in its ability to provide both drivers and spectators with breath-stopping thrills.

Even though what the drivers need most to get through it, lap after unrelenting lap, is to be in control of their breathing.

It is what will happen today, Sunday 27th May 2018, that we are all concerned about.

As the past is the past, even though, as Daniel Ricciardo had observed, placing his car on Pole, provide him and Red Bull with the advantage to win the race.

Of course, all things being equal, which it not oftentimes is. Because, although the Circuit Monaco, subject to adverse weather and temperature enhancing its capacity to be brutal towards the faults of the drivers and cars who dare to race along it.

Can be counted on to be brutal. the drivers, being, as it were, flesh and blood creatures who are also subject to changes in their moods from day to day, if not moment to moment.

Will find it extremely difficult to maintain the consistency of their temperament and their cars, strategies and performance from one day to the next.

All of which, the vagaries of the weather and the comparative unpredictability of how drivers might be on a specific day and race, should contribute towards an exciting and thrilling Monaco Grand Prix today.

So, let us all look forward to enjoying the race and appreciating the Podiumites!
