'If the people expect their leaders to conduct themselves with a higher standard than them; then, should they/we not also expect their God/s to also do the same?'
So, should we become bolder and more incisive in the questions we ask of, and the accountability we expect of our leaders.
Be they political, economic, civil or religious leaders.
Even though we should be aware of the fact that our leaders might not know some of the answers, since they are not necessarily the sapient we might make them out to be.
Our politicians and civic leaders have long been held accountable for their actions and inactions.
Even though many of us would or might argue that they are not been held so effectively or efficiently.
Similarly, more recently our religious leaders, probably much more so within the more transparent and liberal branches of the broad and diverse Christian Church. Both orthodox and unorthodox.
Where the clergy is being taken to task for crimes and abuses their institutions have perpetrated over the decades against those who have fallen within their spheres.
Of course, it is an historical fact that the Christian Church has been born and nurtured in acts of great brutality.
To be continued!
